It’s not just a coincidence. It’s a
coined incidence. It is God, who has gone ahead of you, prepared the way, removed
barriers, set up opportunities, connected you with people and designed an
unscheduled appointment. So don’t just say it’s a coincidence, recognize the
coined incidence and give God the glory because His favor is on you.
1. When Gideon was afraid to face the
Midianites God coined an incident that gave Gideon courage to attack the
enemies of Israel.
Judges 7:9-13: … “Arise, go down against the camp…But if you are afraid to go
down, go down to the camp with Purah your servant…then he went down with Purah
his servant…When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade.
And he said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread
tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it
fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.” And his comrade
answered, “This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of
Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp.
2. When
Ruth the Moabitess came to Israel together with her mother in law she didn’t
know what the future had for her. When she left the house to glean that morning
she didn’t know she would meet her future husband and become the great
grandmother of David the future King of Israel.
Ruth 2:3-5: So she set out and went and gleaned in the field after the
reapers, and she happened to come to the part of the field belonging to Boaz,
who was of the clan of Elimelech. And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem. And he
said to the reapers, “The LORD
be with you!” And they answered, “The LORD
bless you.” Then Boaz said to his young man who was in charge of the reapers, “Whose
young woman is this?”
3. Esther
also happened to have come to the kingdom at the right time. Her uncle
challenged her saying,
“…And who
knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
(Esther 4:14)
4. The
King honored Mordecai when gallows had already been prepared to hang him. That
night the king could not sleep and he began reading the incidence books (Esther
6)
5. David
happened to be sent by His father to take supplies and greet his brothers. He arrived
when Goliath was uttering threats against Israel (1Sam 17:20).
There are many
coined incidences that are recorded in the Bible both in the Old and New
Testament. Personally I remember going up to register for theological training
and I was anxious how I will meet the financial requirements for the course
when as I approached the door where I was to pay the confirmation fee, I heard
someone telling the other inside, “do not be anxious about anything, but in
everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be
made known to God (Phil 4:6:).”
Well, I go to this office, reach the
reception desk, ask to see the chaplain and I am told she is not in. I ask for
her number call her and she happens to be on her way, so I choose to wait. She
comes and we head to her office. She has indeed communicated to the head of
Department as we had talked earlier and there will be some processing to be done for
an opportunity to do my internship here. We talk a little; I thank her, leave
the office and go downstairs. As I head down the stairs I see the Deputy Vice
chancellor coming up the stairs. As I prepare to greet him I see that the head
of department, the man I wanted to see is right behind him. I offer to help with
one of his bags and as we go upstairs I take advantage of the unscheduled appointment.
Then it dawns on me, this is not just a coincidence. It is God who had gone
ahead of me and coined the incidences. And so I thank the Lord for the
coined incidence and I give Him the glory.
If you have had a coined incidence
this week share it and give God the glory.

Yea, I recently watched the movie of the book of Ruth. Quite dramatic and the coincidences especially at the end were definitely God ordained. Sometimes we just need to have our spiritual eyes open to see all God's doing behind the scenes.
